Less than 2% of clothing workers earn a fair wage – while many of us have wardrobes full of unworn outfits. Here’s how to break the cycleIt’s the toxic relationship too many of us can’t quit. An impulse purchase here, a pick-me-up there. A quick scroll, a flirty click, a casual add-to-basket. Who are we hurting? Recent news linking the budget fashion giant Boohoo (which also owns Coast, Karen Millen, and now Oasis and Warehouse) to claims of “modern slavery” in one of Leicester’s garment factories has served to remind us of the sobering answer to this question. Not only is fashion one of the world’s most wasteful and polluting industries, but it’s also one of the most exploitative. Less than 2% of clothing workers globally earn a fair living wage, with most trapped in systemic poverty at almost every stage of the long and shadowy supply chains. Generally plain socks work best with smart formal wear and where plain or patterned can be matched quite well with most casual wear. The tip here is to not introduce too much pattern and generally only go for patterned socks if the majority of your casual look is plain and visa versa. However, one word of caution here is to avoid patterned socks all together if you are wearing heavily patterned trousers. You would be far better to go with a plain sock in the instance. Never mix the two together and always stick with smart socks for formal looks and casual for casual looks. Two big don’ts are comical sock and white socks, which should be kept well and truly out of sight in your gym bag. Discover more info at stylish fashion news.

Jewel tones are popular this season, so if opting to purchase a new piece THINK COLOR! Go for a great item in plum, pink, or berry tones. Blueberry counts! Also, unique to this season is gray velvet. Pick a steely gray pencil skirt and pair with a black chiffon blouse! Perfect for the office! Velvet has deep roots in history as being a symbol of nobility. Choose accessories that have a vintage feel. A great strand of pearls, art deco, chunky jewels, and long necklaces work perfectly with the plush fabric. However, remember to keep accessories simple! Velvet has it’s own luster and is a statement piece in itself. Pairing with too many accessories can leave you looking like overkill. If you are unsure of purchasing an entirely velvet piece, opt for accessories to start you off! Velvet is popular on shoes and commonly made into scarves. These are perfect winter accents for any outfit!

The leather flat boot is another great option as they can come in a variety of colours which is an alternative to the typical brown or black boot. They also have wedged styled boots with a rocker buckle which will add a bit of edge to your outfit, or an ankle leather boot with a small heel which will add a hint of femininity to your look. Boots for women are a great item to have in your wardrobe as they are hard wearing and considering a majority of the British weather is bad, they are also rain proof! Hobo handbag never goes out of fashion. If you are looking for a classy yet Bohemian style handbag, for making a Boho-chic statement, hobo is for you. Hobo bags were named after the bindle carried on a stick by the “Hobos”, who were vagabonds in North western United States during the last part of 19th century. These bags are as laid back as their original owners and usually made of soft and flexible materials. Find additional details at impressestudio.com.
